Starting her business with her own children as her primary subjects in 2004, Dawn left her career as a nurse to follow her dream. Her love of people and her passion for photography earned her the Fuji Masterpiece award in 2006 for her portrait creation of "Angry American", which she proudly displays in her rural boutique studio, which is located between Dalton and Ashby on County Hwy. 82.
Dawn believes in capturing the moment. Whether young or old, traditional or eccentric, modern or classic, when you choose to have your portrait created by Dawn she will make you feel comfortable being "you" in front of the camera. Creating a relaxed environment throughout her studio and 16 acre outdoor portrait park, it is all about the experience! Offering anything from "real life" style portraits to "classic art" , Dawn is dedicated to providing you with an unmatched photographic experience.
Dawn is a professional- not just a "mom with a camera". A member of the Professional Photographers of America, Minnesota Professional Photographers of America, SPA portrait artists, WPPI, MIE Society and other photographer organizations, Dawn attends many educational classes throughout the year, keeping her up to date with the newest trends and styles along with maintaining the classic portraiture.
As a family based studio, you will most often find Dawn's family in the background, assisting with lighting, capturing smiles or keeping up the studio. Because Dawn is the ONLY photographer and graphic artist, she asks that you always respect her time with her family by making an appointment prior to coming to her studio. Dawn reserves the right to decline business to anyone not respectful of her family and their time together.
Due to the personal services and stellar reputation with her clients her typical appointments will book 4-6 weeks in advance with June-October booking 12 weeks in advance. Please plan ahead in order to be certain that you don't miss that perfect age or moment in time. You don't want to have your portrait captured by just anybody.

It seems as though when your young you spend your days saying “It’s taking forever to get to do this or that”… and then as you get older you spend your days looking back saying “I wish it wouldn’t have gone by so fast”. I think right now I’m somewhere in the middle of that. Just 16 short years ago they laid this baby in her father’s arms and as I lay there on the operating room table after a c-section, I was in awe that that was the first time I’d ever seen her dad with that look on his face. I can still “feel” that moment in time. Someone snuck my camera into the operating room (I was a nurse back then so I think I had a couple of friends) and I have that exact image in her baby book. It was the beginning of my realization that a moment can last forever in a portrait. I look at my camera as the lense of life. It enables me capture those moments to treasure forever. You won’t look around and see very many pictures of me but in every single image you see what I saw and felt at that moment.
